Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
First seeing action in North America with the Hamilton Bulldogs of the AHL, Tomas Plekanec also skated in the Czech Extraliga with HC Kladno for three seasons beginning in 1998. This Canadiens alternate captain’s home jersey was worn by the centerman in the 2015 Stanley Cup playoffs, and it’s been photo-matched. Size tagging is affixed to the collar including handwritten “5P”, with NHL and Reebok crests on the front and back necklines respectively. Featuring the famous partially-embroidered CH team crest, the V-neck sweater has been accented with dual-colour tackle twill sleeve and verso numbers, with the important Jean Beliveau “4” memorial patch over the right breast. A hologram numbered GUO4377 has been affixed to the reverse “4”, with a matching LOA from the Canadiens to accompany.
Visible game-use on the “Home Set 5P” jersey includes a few dark marks on the lower front, along with board burns with a small resulting slit over the left elbow. We should also note that the jersey sports customized cuffs, with Velcro added to the interior of each. Regarding the previously mentioned photo-match, Getty Image #472073856 from May 1st 2015 has been matched to the white loose thread on the lower right corner of the team crest, and to the two blue threads in the upper right of the team crest (one short and one long).
