Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/7/2017
The spectacular and preposterous curve is showcased on Stan Mikita’s 1960s Chicago Black Hawks Northland “banana hook” game-used stick. Stan’s original tape job remains on the knob, which has a custom-shaved handle, but his tape job was removed from the absurdly-curved blade, which was so pronounced that it was ultimately outlawed by the NHL. "21” and “Mikita” are stamped on the shaft, which displays “Gunzo’s Sports Center, Berwyn, Ill.” Stamps on each side of the shaft with only a bit of the “St. Paul” stamp visible at the bottom of the Stan’s well-worn tape job on the knob. This desirable Mikita gamer with its famous curve comes with a Classic Auctions LOA and a Double Deck Hockey COA.
