Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
The first team representing New York City to ever grace the NHL, the New York Americans began life in 1925, icing teams until the 1941-42 season when the squad represented Brooklyn for a single campaign before folding. We have an exceptional survivor from the short lived franchise, with an original New York Americans team jacket hailing from the roaring ‘20s. A perfect label from prominent Gotham supplier Alex Taylor & Company remains affixed to the collar, with a gorgeous chenille crest in Amerks colours with crossed hockey sticks over the left breast. Accented with white and blue leather striping bands over the right sleeve along with blue cuffs and bottom hem, the late-1920s suede relic also features 12 affixed leather stars split evenly over each front pocket.
In wonderful condition overall considering its age, the jacket exhibits just some toning and slight discolouration to the white colour of the leather accents, with the threading along one side of the collar detached/loose.
