Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
The Quebec Nordiques reached the summit of the World Hockey Association in their fifth year in the rebel league. Quebec won its first and only WHA title in the spring of 1977 with a seven-game series win against Winnipeg after playoff series wins over New England and Indianapolis. This 1976-77 Nordiques WHA Avco Cup championship 10-karat gold ring presented to assistant trainer Brian Turpin has a real diamond set on the rectangular tableau. Weighing in at approximately 15 grams, this distinctive WHA championship ring features a Nordiques crest with the diamond serving as the logo’s puck. “10K” and “Brian Turpin” are stamped inside size 12 1/2 band. Wonderfully preserved with light scratches.
“Coupe Avco 76-77” is displayed on the left shank, and the right shank displays an approximation of the WHA logo with “AMH”, the French abbreviation of the rebel league’s name, at the bottom.
