Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
Inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1961 after the usual five-year waiting period for eligibility after retiring was waived, Maurice Richard spent parts of 18 seasons wearing the sacred CH, captaining the famous club during his final four seasons. Hailing from that transitional period that first witnessed The Rocket rocking the “C”, we have a signed stick used by the iconic superstar circa-1955, or just prior to his brother Henri’s arrival in 1955-56, when his familiar “Richard 9” stamp was changed to “M. Richard 9”. A CCM Professional model, “Custom Made for Richard 9” and “left” appear over the upper shaft, along with a stamp from supplier Raymond Hardware Ltd. The original black tape remains over the blade and shaft with the striping accent intact, with Richard adding a nice black ballpoint signature over the upper shaft.
Exhibiting light use, wear is present to the taped section of blade, with a few marks and abrasions to the lower shaft.
