This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
Seeing action with Montreal in parts of 5 NHL seasons during the early-to-mid-1960s, Red Berenson later went on to additional seasons with St Louis and Detroit, as well as coaching the Michigan Wolverines for over 30 years. We have a wonderful 1964-65 Stanley Cup championship trophy that was presented to Red Berenson. Standing a majestic 13” with a wooden base with green felt underside, the names of the men who made it happen are engraved in two columns, with “Club de Hockey Canadien Inc” and “Stanley Cup Winners 1964-65” engraved above. Heavy tarnishing is present throughout, with the top bowl exhibiting surface loss and just slightly bent. Additional wear is present on the wooden base. Red only played 3 regular season games for the Habs in 1964-65, along with 9 playoff contests. A signed LOA from Mr. Berenson will accompany.
We should note that the trophy was recently repaired, with the felt covered wooden base reattached to the body by way of three small nails (replicating the original construction and utilizing the same nail holes), with 2 very small surface dents left behind.
