Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
Riveting to hockey historians are these images, with none more thought-provoking than that featuring the all-stars who played the Maple Leafs in the famous Ace Bailey benefit game in Toronto. Morenz, Joliat, Shore, "Ching", "Nels", Bill Cook and others also appear in their respective team photos, with Lionel Conacher and Chuck Gardiner leading the 1933-34 Stanley Cup champion Chicago Black Hawks' roster. The long-gone Montreal Maroons and New York Americans are also present in the splendid group shots, as are the Can-Am champion Providence Reds, the Allan Cup champion Moncton Hawks and the Memorial Cup champs from St. Michael's College. Printed on quality glossy paper stock, the pictures measure 8-3/4" by 11-1/4" and for the most part have been preserved in pleasing EX or better condition, with no unsightly flaws. The Maroons and Maple Leafs examples are just a tad lesser with a few light bends but again, no nasty creases/flaws. The men who helped write part of the NHL's pre-war story await the high bidder who will have to shell out considerably more than the original 15-cent set price!
