Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/7/2017
An eclectic grab bag for the vintage hockey collector, we have a group of felts, ads and premiums, with some neat specimens not seen too often. Included, we have an S22 Murad Yale hockey silk, a T6 large Rochester College Series premium along with the regular-sized Rochester Murad card, a 1910 B33 Murad Oregon hockey felt, a Murad Picture Coupon, a Turret Cigarettes order form, a 1930s/1940s hockey punch board, a Canada Starch envelope and a 1935 Crown Brand hockey booklet with print ad and Sports Club premium pinback. There is also a pair Nestor Johnson print ads (1929 & 1930) from The American Boy periodical, with a point-of-sale skate tag and small skate pin.
The Yale and Oregon silks are in beautiful condition, with some wear to the tassels along the bottom of the Oregon silk along with some wear to the inked surface, with just a single minor vertical fold line to the S22, with both displaying wonderfully. The large Rochester T6 has light surface wear with a few small corner creases, with vibrant colours along with some toning to the checklist reverse, while the small Rochester Murad card has some creasing and corner wear. The Murad coupon and Turret order form show light wear with a fold through the coupon, while the hockey punch board is complete and unused, with just toning to the surface the main issue. The Crown booklet features nice colours with a small separation at the top of the spine, along with some minor wear including light creasing along the bottom portion. The Crown pinback remains in gorgeous condition with some discolouration/rusting to the reverse. Lastly, the 10 ½” x 14” Nestor Johnson ads feature endorsements from a number of college players, with each showing heavy toning along with edge tears and corner wear, while the point-of-sale tag and skate pin exhibit just light wear, with some rusting to the affixed staples on the tag.
