Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024
Bringing his years of experience and success to a youthful Pittsburgh Penguins squad, Bryan Trottier would grace Pennsylvania for a trio of seasons, from 1990 to 1994, with his inaugural campaign in a Penguins jersey fortuitous for both he and Pittsburgh supporters, with his first of two consecutive Stanley Cup championships won in 1990-91. A veteran of 1279 National Hockey League games that was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1997 after winning a total of six (6) Stanley Cup championships, offered here is this photo-matched Penguins jersey worn by Trottier during his final NHL season of 1993-94. Made by CCM, Maska, "NHL Center Ice Authentic Collection and size "52" labels are affixed to the inner collar while both the NHL and CCM logos have been embroidered into the reverse hem. Decorated over the front of the jersey with "Pittsburgh" in individually applied tai-layer drop shadow tackle twill letters running diagonally down the chest from right-to-left, matching alternate logo crests have been added atop of both shoulders. Of note, minor evidence of a once in place alternate captain's "A" is seen over the left breast via a small unrepaired hole. Styled over the sleeves and verso with Trottier's number "19" (which has also been penned over the Maska label that is affixed to the inner collar in black marker ink) in dual layer yellow-over-white tackle twill numerals, "Trottier" has been spelt out in matching style letters across the affixed matching nameplate that is in place at the top of the reverse. Retaining its fight strap on the interior, the jersey exhibits good game-wear throughout via things like stick marks and board burns throughout as well as pilling around the collar and on the inside of the left sleeve. Also showing a small unrepaired hole through the first layer of material over the left elbow, the jersey has been photo-matched with Getty Image #1220447827 (January 29th, 1994 vs Toronto) that shows matches to stick marks over the front hem and left forearm as well as to loose white threads off of the "U" and "R" in "Pittsburgh" over the front. Also photo-matched with Getty Image #1220447135 (January 29th, 1994 vs Toronto), this image shows a match to the stick mark at the bottom of the right elbow and to the loose white thread at the top of the Penguins crest that resides over the right shoulder.
