Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/6/2018
A sad time for New York baseball and unbeknownst to Brooklynites, the 1957 MLB season would be the last for the beloved Dodgers in Brooklyn, with the team set to begin the 1958 season in their new Californian home. We have a yearbook from that final season of Trolley Dodger baseball in 1957, with this example signed by over 40 Brooklyn legends. Featuring Mullin’s beloved Bum depicted for each pennant won by Brooklyn, the 48-page yearbook remains complete, with most signatures scripted on or near each respective player’s image. Highlighted by HOFers Duke Snider, Don Drysdale, Sandy Koufax, Pee Wee Reese, Walt Alston and Roy Campanella, there are also signatures present for Maglie, Newcombe, Gilliam, Furillo, Hodges, Labine, Erskine, Podres, Bessent, Jackson, Craig, Gentile, Becker, Pitler and others. An LOA from JSA will accompany.
The signatures have all been scripted in ballpoint, with a name also handwritten on the cover. Heavy toning is present, along with spine wear with a separation, with the center page detached at the top staple. As an added bonus, we also have a Montreal Expos yearbook from the club’s inaugural season of 1969. Complete including the 2-page center-spread colour team picture, just handling wear is present, along with some toning to the pages.
