Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
These two guys spent parts of eight seasons together and shared nearly 50 playoff games
along the way. Brendan Gallagher and Jeff Petry couldn’t be more different on the ice, but their
contrasting styles were key ingredients in the Canadiens’ success during their time as
teammates, which was highlighted by their Cinderella run to the Stanley Cup Final in 2021.
In this lot, we’ve reunited the pair with two game-used sticks from their time in Montréal.
Gallagher’s stick is a Warrior Covert QR1, featuring his original tape job which includes black
tape on the blade and white tape on the knob. Just below the knob, “GALLY” appears in factory
graphics on the shaft. Game use is clearly evident, with wear to the tape on both ends, along
with surface chipping most noticeable along the lower shaft. This model of stick was used
by Gallagher during the 2014–16 seasons.
Petry’s stick is a CCM JetSpeed model, complete with his original gripper knob. On the backside
of the grip, a handwritten “1” in black marker likely marks it as the first stick in his rotation at the
time. The blade is bare, as the tape was removed to make room for a bold, silver-marker
signature across the forehand, which is beautifully preserved. Below the grip, “Petry” is printed
in factory graphics on the namebar. Game wear is visible throughout the shaft and blade, with
moderate surface chipping. Petry used this model of stick throughout parts of the 2017-19
seasons.
