Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024
Coming into the year as the defending Stanley Cup champions, the 1939-40 season saw the Boston Bruins finish with a record of 31–12–5 during the regular season, good enough to pace the National Hockey League standings. Falling in the playoffs to the New York Rangers in the semi-finals, Milt Schmidt and Woody Dumart would both score twenty-two (22) goals to lead the way for the team, with Schmidt also registering a total of thirty (30) assists to give himself a team leading fifty-two (52) points. Going on to win Boston's third Stanley Cup a year later, offered here is this team-signed sheet autographed by fifteen (15) members of the 1939-40 Boston Bruins. A simple sheet of paper measuring slightly smaller than 8 1/2" x 11", the page displays with numerous fold lines throughout and has been signed by HOFers including Woody Dumart, Frank Brimsek, Roy Conacher, Bobby Bauer, Milt Schmidt, Dit Clapper and Bill Cowley as well as Herbie Cain, Eddie Wiseman, Bill "Flash" Hollett, Art Jackson, Jack Shewchuk, Des Smith, Jack Crawford and Mel Hill. All having been signed in pencil and displaying well despite some that are a bit more faded then others, "Boston Bruins 1939-40" has also been penned over the sheet in pencil as well. Having been reviewed and authenticated by Beckett, the page is encapsulated in an oversized Beckett holder that remains in excellent condition despite some minor scratches/scuffs.
