Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2016
This impressive original artist retouch for the classic print “Vintage Skates” is numbered 1/1, and it’s been beautifully matted with a perfect Bobby Orr signature. Artist Daniel Parry, renowned for his realistic sports portrayals sums up this gorgeous series best in his own words, “Through my relationship with the Hockey Hall of Fame and the many NHL Hockey Legends I have been fortunate enough to work with, I have had access to and have extensively researched through many Hockey artifact and archives collections. From those opportunities, I have used the vintage game-used gloves, skates, sticks and pucks from numerous NHL legends as reference and inspiration for "The Vintage Hockey Collection" paintings - including actual Vintage game-used equipment worn and used by: Bobby Orr, Gordie Howe, Maurice Richard, Bobby Hull, Frank Mahovlich, Paul Henderson, etc.” The number #4 on the left skate has been added, as these prints were available for different players and would have matching signatures with said player’s number. The 12” x 15” print has embossed seals in the lower corners, with the one-off designation and “Original Artist Retouch” in the lower left, and 707/1970 and the artist’s signature in the lower right. Matted to total dimensions of 16” x 20”, this print remains in perfect condition. A COA from Daniel Parry will accompany.
