Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025
Synonymous with greatness, those fortunate enough to have seen Bobby Orr in action during his all-too-brief Hall of Fame career will understand and appreciate the way the Parry Sound wunderkind completely revolutionized the game, becoming the game’s first blueliner to focus on offence as much as defence. The winner of eight (8) straight Norris Trophy’s, Orr would also add the Calder Memorial, Conn Smythe (x2), Hart Memorial (x3) and Art Ross (x2) Trophies to his awards showcase during his career along with two (2) Stanley Cup’s and become one of the biggest and most marketable stars the National Hockey League had ever seen up to that point. With there being no debate in the New England region as to who hockey's greatest player is, offered here is this trio of items hailing from Orr's times with the Bruins that date between 1967-68 and 1974-75. Paced by a game day program from Boston's first game in Pittsburgh against the newly minted Penguins on November 22nd, 1967, Orr is featured on the cover in a posed image while the NHL shield logo and "National Hockey League" appear over the bottom along with a .50 cent original purchase price. Retaining its lineup in the middle on the interior and unscored, the program shows the typical handling wear as well as edge and corner wear plus surface wear and tears to the back cover/spine to go along with some creases/folds. Also including a pair of ticket stubs, the first dates to Boston's March 19th, 1972 game at the Boston Garden against the Minnesota North Stars in which Orr scored one (1) goal and recorded two (2) assists. Measuring roughly 3" x 2" and torn over the right edge, the stub displays game, venue, date, seat and original purchase price information. For the second stub, from Boston's March 12th, 1975 game in Pittsburgh against the Penguins, the small 1 1/2" x 3 3/4" stub dates from the last NHL game Orr ever played in Pittsburgh, in which he recorded one (1) assist. Sporting both Penguins and NHL logos over the front plus game, date, seat, opponent and original purchase price information, the stub is torn along the top and shows corner/edge/surface wear.
