The most successful season in franchise history, finishing 13-3 which included first going 13-0, the New Orleans Saints defeated Arizona and Minnesota in the 2009 postseason and met the Indianapolis Colts in Super Bowl XLIV. Down by 10 after the first quarter, the Saints added 25 points in the second half while allowing just a single touchdown, and earned a 31-17 victory, with this the first Saints' championship. Playing 16 games in 2009 as a reserve, defensive end Bobby McCray started in all three of the Saints' postseason games including Super Bowl XLIV. McCray's legal block on Kurt Warner in the first playoff game against Arizona was called "game-changing" by teammate Darren Sharper, McCray was also fined $20,000 for an illegal hit on Brett Favre in the NFC Championship game, thus earning the nickname "Quarterback Killa".
This 2009 New Orleans Saints Super Bowl XLIV 14K yellow gold and diamond ring by Tiffany & Co was presented to Bobby McCray. Recognized as one of the most gorgeous championship rings ever produced, the large and flashy keepsake sports a size of 14 1/2 along with a weight of 55.70 grams. Featuring a raised Saints' fleur-de-lis emblem over the tableau encrusted with diamonds set over an additional bed of diamonds, with "World" above in raised slanted letters and "Champions" below. The perimeter of the bezel is also diamond crusted, with an additional row of the precious stones at each side (in total, there are one hundred and three (103) round brilliant cut diamonds measuring approx 1.3 to 2.7mm, with each weighing approx 4.00cts in total gauge). The right shank has "Super Bowl XLIV" centered with the score of the game above and the date and location below, while the left shank sports the New Orleans skyline with "McCray" above in raised letters and "DE" below. The inner band is engraved "Finish, Be Special, Smell Greatness" along with logos and scores from the two playoff games, and "T & Co .585" (Tiffany & Co 14K).
Exhibiting wear from use, there are a few scratches to the band and sides of the shanks, as well as a few small dings visible along edges of the band. A detailed gemological jewelry appraisal report will accompany this fabulous New Orleans Saints championship ring.
