Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024
Bringing a certain “Broad Street Bully” element to Detroit during his tenure, Bob Probert proved to be hard as nails, and was recognized as one of the toughest players in modern history while also adept at putting the puck in the net. Signing with the Chicago Blackhawks after nine seasons in the Motor City and playing the final seven (7) seasons of his NHL career in Chicago, offered here is this stick used by Probert as a member of the Blackhawks in the late-1990s. A Hespeler 5500 model twig with "B. Probert" stamped to the upper shaft, a stiffness rating stamp of "115-120" is found over the topside of the lower shaft as well. Also sporting stamps reading "80 13" over the upper shaft and underside of the lower shaft, the stick retains its original tape job of ribbed white wrapped around the handle/knob while white is found around the blade as well. Displaying good game-use via numerous dark marks over both sides of the blade tape and other dark/coloured marks throughout the rest of the stick, heaviest over the lower shaft and heel, the blade tape sports a couple of tears near the toe that is worth mentioning for accuracy as well. A great game-used stick from possibly the greatest heavyweight in NHL history, accompanying the stick is an 8" x 10" photo of Probert signed by the man himself with a silver marker ink signature that displays without issue and is accompanied by a JSA Auction LOA.
