HOF goalie Billy Smith claimed his second Stanley Cup trophy in the spring of 1981 as the New York Islanders defended their title with a five-game win over the Minnesota North Stars in the final. Smith went 14-3 with a 2.54 GAA in the playoffs and Butch Goring took the Conn Smythe Trophy as the Islanders beat Toronto, Edmonton and the rival Rangers on their way to extinguishing the North Stars. Standing 13 1/8” tall, this magnificent silver-plated Stanley Cup reads “New York Islanders 1980-81” on the engraved barrel, with the names of HOFers Torrey, Arbour and Devellano among the executives and staff below that. Captain Denis Potvin and fellow HOFers Bossy, Gillies, Smith and Trottier among the players names listed in three columns at the bottom. Beautifully preserved with some tarnish, a small scrape on the left edge above the barrel, and a dent inside the bottom of the bowl. Comes with Billy Smith’s signed LOA.
