Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024
HOF goaltender Bernie Parent shined for the Toronto Maple Leafs in the early-1970s before winning back-to-back Conn Smythe Trophies with the Philadelphia Flyers. Suiting up in the blue and white colours of the Maple Leafs for a total of sixty-five (65) games between 1970-71 and 1971-72, offered here is this stick used by Parent in the early-1970s as a member of the Maple Leafs. A Sher-Wood Pattern Pro model twig with "Parent 30" stamped to the upper shaft, the stick retains its original black tape job around the handle while all the tape over the paddle and blade has long since been removed by someone after it was used. Free from any cracks or breaks and sporting partially intact striping accents over the top and bottom portions of the paddle, both the upper half of the paddle as well as the entirety of the blade have been painted black. Displaying what appears to be just overall light game-wear via a few marks and abrasions throughout the entirety of the piece, a heavily faded signature from Parent is found over the backhand side of the upper shaft between "Pattern" and "Pro".
