Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
Anton Stralman is one of those guys that you point to as a prime example of making the best of
the opportunity you’re given. A 7th-round draft pick, taken 216th overall by the Maple Leafs in
2005, the odds were firmly stacked against him. But the poised, puck-moving Swedish
defenseman made a habit of beating expectations. Before he became a reliable top-four
blueliner across multiple NHL cities, Stralman quietly honed his craft in Toronto, earning respect
with his calm presence and subtle skill.
Worn during the 2008–09 season, this Toronto Maple Leafs third jersey was used by Anton
Stralman in the November 22, 2008 game against the Chicago Blackhawks — the night the
team honored Wendel Clark by raising his No. 17 to the rafters. The jersey features a Clark
tribute patch on the right breast: a white maple leaf with “17” stitched at the center. Designated
as “Third Set 1,” this size 58 Reebok jersey includes the NHL crest on the front, Reebok
branding on the neckline, and Stralman’s number 36 in single-layer blue twill on both sleeves
and the back. “STRALMAN” appears in blue twill on the white nameplate. Inside the jersey, a
fight strap is affixed, and a MeiGray patch with the jersey’s inventory number is sewn on the
inside hem.
According to the included team LOA, this set of jerseys were worn by the Leafs in four earlier games
prior to the Clark tribute night, but he only appeared on-ice in the October 23 and November 1
matchups. He did play on November 22, wearing this jersey with the commemorative patch.
Visible game wear includes a board burn on the right shoulder, a large stick mark down the
sleeve, and a small stick mark across the lower back stripe.
