Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2025
A star in the Ontario Hockey League with the Peterborough Petes in the early-1990s, Andrew Verner would be drafted 34th overall by the Edmonton Oilers at the 1991 NHL Entry Draft. Winning a Calder Cup championship with AHL Cape Breton in 1993 and serving on the Canadian National Team in 1994-95, Verner would win silver and bronze medals at the IIHF World Championships in 1995 and 1996 while serving as Canada's third goalie. Also helping Kolner Haie to a Spangler Cup in 1999, offered here is this Canadian National Team jersey worn by Verner during the 1994-95 season. Made by CCM and sporting both size "56" and Maska Air-Knit labels affixed to the inner collar, a CCM logo has been embroidered into the reverse hem as well. Retaining its fight strap on the interior and decorated over the front with a familiar Hockey Canada team crest that features embroidered details, matching crests of a smaller size have been placed atop of each shoulder. Styled over the sleeves and verso with Verner's number "29" in single layer white twill numerals, "Verner" is spelt out in matching style single layer white vinyl letters that have been heat pressed on across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the reverse. Displaying good game-wear, puck marks are seen over the front and both sleeves along with some light/minor staining/discoloration while a couple dark marks and stains are seen over the reverse as well to go along with some pilling on the interior.
