Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021

Gaining pre-NHL experience with several clubs in the Q, goaltender Andre Racicot was drafted by Montreal in 1989 and won a Stanley Cup championship with the Habs in 1993, with later time spent guarding the creases of numerous leagues including the AHL, IHL, QSPHL and others. This Canadiens jersey was issued to Racicot during his rookie season of 1990-91. A Maska label is affixed to the collar along with embroidered CCM and NHL crests over the reverse hem, with the jersey measuring-out to roughly a size 54. Styled with the most famous team crest in hockey, “40” is sewn to the sleeves and verso in layered tackle twill, with “Racicot” across the affixed nameplate in single white twill. We should further note that while the accompanying LOA from the Canadiens lists the garment as team issued, there are a few faint black marks on the upper right sleeve and the fight strap shows signs of washing, so the possibility exists of brief use.
