Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
Goalie Al Jensen went an impressive 95-53-18 in 179 NHL games during the 1980s while playing mostly for the Washington Capitals with brief stints in Detroit and Los Angeles. On his way up to the bigs Jensen acquired a little championship experience with the Adirondack Red Wings, who won the AHL’s Calder Cup in 1980-81. Jensen’s “A.J.” initials are stamped inside the size 9 band of his Adirondack Calder Cup championship ring. The ring has an approximate weight of 26 grams and the “Balfour Celestrum” stamp inside the band is mostly no longer legible. An enamel “Winged Wheel” Red Wings logo in metal is affixed to the front of the red stone set in the tableau. “Adirondack Red Wings - Champions” is featured in raised letters on the bezel. “Jensen” and his jersey No. “1” appear above and below the AHL logo on one shank. The other shank displays “1981” above a raised image of the Calder Cup. This championship ring remains in lovely condition with a few small nicks to the band from proud wear.
