Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
Praised by general manager Lou Lamoriello who stated, "He did an outstanding job for us", HOFer Adam Oates lent his hockey skills to coaching after retiring, where he served for two seasons as an assistant coach for the New Jersey Devils beginning in 2010. This was followed by a head coaching gig with Washington, before returning to New Jersey in 2014 as a "co-head coach", splitting duties with Scott Stevens. This Prince of Wales trophy was presented to Adam Oates for the Devils’ status as the 2011-12 Eastern Conference playoffs champions. At 11” in height with the removable lid missing, four silver-plated hockey sticks rise up from a 2 ½” wooden base to support a cup with an affixed coat of arms. A plaque affixed over the front of the wooden base states, “Prince of Wales Trophy”, with “Adam Oates” engraved beneath, while a second plaque over the reverse sports, "NHL Champions – New Jersey Devils - 2011-12". The brown felt underside is intact, with a sticker from maker Boffey affixed. Regarding condition, there is an even coat of tarnish throughout as well as a couple very tiny marks, with a small bit of sticky tape residue along two edges of the rim. Hailing from the personal collection of Adam Oates, his signed LOA will accompany.
