First reached by Gordie Howe during the 1960-61 NHL season, 100 players have scored 1,000 points or more, with HOFer Adam Oates summiting the plateau with Washington, on Oct 8, 1997, while scoring a hat trick in a 6-3 win over the New York Islanders. A time-honored tradition in the NHL, symbolizing the player's dedication and impact on the sport, this "1,000th NHL Point" milestone silver stick was presented to the five-time NHL All-Star. Sporting a hefty weight of 16 pounds and usually produced of silver plated bronze or stainless steel, the stick is made to the exact specifications of the players current model stick including the pattern and lie. The length is approx 56" from the top of the shaft to the base of the blade. There is engraving on the frontside blade, with "The Washington Capitals Congratulate ADAM OATES on Scoring his 1000th NHL Point - October 8, 1997 - Nassau Coliseum, Uniondale, NY", with additional engraved text near the heel of the blade with four columns - one for each of his teams - listing his goals, assists and points with each team and the final totals. In gorgeous condition overall with minor scratches throughout it's length, the stick is ready for tasteful display. Hailing from the personal collection of Adam Oates, his signed LOA will accompany.
