Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025
A product of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds who would be drafted 22nd overall in 1989 by the Quebec Nordiques, Adam Foote play most of his career in the Quebec/Colorado organization, to the tune of 967 out of his National Hockey League games played. Following the Nordiques to Colorado when they relocated in 1995 to become the Colorado Avalanche, a team he would hoist a pair of Stanley Cups with, offered here is this Avs jersey donned by Foote during the pre-season campaign of 1997-98. Made by Starter, the all-mesh construction garment features a Starter and Center Ice Authentic Collection tag affixed to the inner collar which has had a "l" penned to it to denote it as being a first set offering. With a size label reading "56-R-8-21" sewn in below it, the Starter wordmark and NHL shield emblems have been embroidered into the reverse hem. Retaining its original fight strap on the interior, the front of the jersey is decorated with Colorado's familiar team crest which features both textured and embroidered details throughout its entirety. Sporting matching alternate logo patches atop of both shoulders, the sleeves and verso have been styled with Foote's number "52" in stacked tri-layer glacier tackle twill numerals while "Foote" is spelt out in single layer white glacier twill letters that have been laid out in an arch above the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the reverse. Worn throughout the pre-season according to the Avalanche COA that accompanies the piece, the jersey shows just light wear via some board burns over the right shoulder above the sleeve numbers and through some stick marks through the numbers on the reverse.
