Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2024

A long-serving captain for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Mats Sundin is currently the Leafs' all-time leader in goals and points. Drafted first overall by the Quebec Nordiques in 1989, Sundin would also represent his native Sweden on numerous occasions throughout his career, winning an Olympic gold medal in 2006. Offered here, we present this "Superlative Shields" patch card of Sundin from Leaf/In The Game's 2015-16 Superlative release. Sporting a simple design on the front with no imagery of the featured player, "Superlative Shields" is found spelt out at the top while "Mats Sundin" and "Toronto" is displayed over the lower front. Made special due to the fact that an NHL shield emblem cut from the lower reverse of one of Sundin's game-worn Maple Leafs jerseys has been embedded into the front of the card, the desirable offering, sporting gorgeous silver embroidery really pops when handled in person. Hand serial numbered "1/1" over the reverse in silver marker ink, the card is found in its original ungraded form and displays in excellent condition with light touches of surface wear/chipping to the top and bottom borders on the reverse that are worth mentioning for accuracy.
