Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction - June 2009

Alexei Kovalev's combined numbers in Pittsburgh, New York and Montreal have him poised to crack the 1000-point plateau if he sticks around another season or two. No doubt, he is a very exciting player to watch. Beautiful white mesh by Gerry Cosby worn by Alex in his fourth NHL season has "Rangers" cascading down the chest beneath the v-neck that simply screams - old time hockey! Neck tagging displays the CCM/Maska label and size "52" fly tag near the familiar blue and white Gerry Cosby tag. Nice use with more 50 board burns and stick marks on the arms and front along with a half dozen smaller unrepaired holes on the right sleeve. Both lower cuffs reveal areas of red board paint transfer and some blue board paint turns up as well. A peek inside the tail reveals the team's "Gerry Cosby Set 2 1995-96, 27" stamping. Comes with a letter of authenticity on Rangers letterhead signed by GM Neil Smith and a certificate from the MeiGray Group. A great shirt worn by a very talented import just one year after he hoisted Lord Stanley's grail in the Big Apple.
