Edmonton Oilers Auction 2005
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/16/2005
The Edmonton Oilers continued to fire on all cylinders as they jumped out to a 3-0 lead over the Boston Bruins in the 1988 Stanley Cup Finals. Game Four was halted after a power failure at Boston Garden and the series went back to Edmonton where the Oilers completed the sweep a 6-3 win. Wayne Gretzky was incredible throughout the series and was chosen as the recipient of the Conn Smythe trophy for the second time in his career. This victory marked their fourth Cup in five years and raised the team to official dynasty status. Direct from the Edmonton Coliseum, now Rexall Place, we are proud to offer the original banner that was raised high up into the rafters to celebrate and commemorate the Edmonton Oilers' fourth Stanley Cup Championship victory in 1988. This massive double-sided white nylon banner, measuring approximately 4 by 12 feet, proudly displays the team logo with "NHL Stanley Cup" above and "Champions 87-88" below. All logos, lettering and numbering have been individually applied to this historical one-of-a-kind display. From the archives of the Edmonton Oilers Hockey Club, with accompanying letter of authenticity on team letterhead signed by Oilers General Manager Kevin Lowe.
