Edmonton Oilers Auction 2005
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/16/2005
The Edmonton Oilers would stumble in the opening game of the 1987 playoffs losing to the Los Angels Kings 5-2. They then responded in resounding fashion as they slaughtered the Kings 13-3 in the second match. The Oilers would go on to win the series in five games scoring a total of 30 goals in the final four games. Edmonton continued the hot streak as they swept the Winnipeg Jets in four straight games to win the 1987 Smythe Division Championship. Direct from the rafters of the Edmonton Coliseum, now Rexall Place, we offer the original Smythe Division Championship banner hung to celebrate and commemorate the Edmonton Oilers 1986-87 post-season title. This massive double-sided orange nylon banner measuring approximately 4 by 12 feet, proudly displays the team logo with "NHL Smythe Division" above and "Champions 86-87" below. All logos, lettering and numbering have been individually applied to this historical one-of-a-kind display. From the archives of the Edmonton Oilers Hockey Club, with accompanying letter of authenticity on team letterhead signed by Oilers General Manager Kevin Lowe.
