Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2025
Still largely regarded as the greatest basketball player of all-time (and rightfully so in this writer’s opinion), Michael Jordan would win a total of six (6) NBA Championships during his 15-year career as well as Olympic gold medals with Team USA in 1984 and 1992. One of the biggest brands in the world, Jordan would be inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2009 (for his individual career) and 2010 (as part of the 1992 Olympic Team). Offered here, we present this copy of Jordan's 1984 Star XRC card. Jordan's first (1st) official Star issue and his first (1st) licensed card that was issued, pre-dating his ever popular Fleer rookie of 1986-87, the example is the most valuable Jordan card ever issued. Released by Star via team sets packaged in poly bags, making it quite easy for the corners to be damaged, the Jordan #101 XRC card was the first card on the outside of the Chicago Bulls polybag, thus making it a commonly challenging card to find in high-grade condition. In addition, the polybag which contains the Olympic subset and the Awards/Record/Leaders is combined, placing the #195 Jordan on top and the #288 Jordan on the bottom. Found here having been assessed a mark of EX-MT 6 by PSA, the card is one of only 438 examples ever graded by the company compared to over 28,000 examples of his commonly known 1986-87 Fleer RC over the years. Slightly off-center from left-to-right while retaining excellent colours, the card is housed in an overall excellent condition PSA holder and is sure to become a staple in your all-important collection!
