Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2025
Ray Bourque’s arrival in the NHL during the 1979-80 season marked the beginning of one of the
most decorated defensive careers in hockey history. As the backbone of the Boston Bruins’
defense for over two decades, Bourque combined elite offensive production with defensive
brilliance, setting the record for most career points by a defenseman with 1,579. His accolades
include five Norris Trophies, 19 All-Star selections, and the crowning achievement of his
career—a Stanley Cup victory with the Colorado Avalanche in 2001, which served as a fitting
conclusion to his legendary journey.
Offered here is an exceptional example of Bourque’s coveted 1980-81 O-Pee-Chee rookie card
(#140), graded MINT 9 by PSA. Out of the 3,097 copies submitted to PSA over the years, this
pop-174 example is only bettered by 36 others on the PSA population report.
The card is housed in a PSA holder that remains in great condition, with no significant flaws to
note.
