The names engraved on individual shields at the base of this statuesque master trophy once echoed throughout the Forum in Montreal. The Joseph Cattarinich Memorial Trophy was first presented to the top athlete in Quebec in 1941. During the early-1960s, the award was reclaimed and refurbished by the Montreal Canadiens to be presented following each season to the teams "Most Valuable Player." Beginning in 1964, the trophy was bestowed upon Jean Beliveau, Claude Provost, Gump Worsley, Yvan Cournoyer, Toe Blake, Henri Richard, John Ferguson, Guy Lafleur, Ken Dryden and then Richard again in 1973 and finally once more in 1974-75 to Guy Lafleur. This team-awarded master trophy sat in prominent display at the Montreal Forum, a witness to twelve thrilling seasons and six Stanley Cup Championships!
