Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2016
Topps advertised “Biggest Series Ever” on wax boxes in 1975-76, its hockey effort increasing from the previous year’s 264 cards to a whopping 330. With a goalie’s image reminiscent of Gary “Suitcase” Smith, the box here still houses 26 of its original 36 packs, with ten cards to a pack. Preserved in attractive condition with no unsightly flaws, the cardboard holder has a couple of one-inch creases in the top section which was/is perforated. Cards and a wrapper present from an additional (opened) pack include a Pierre Larouche rookie card, Canadiens and Canucks team cards and checklist #267. Hall-of-Famers Orr, Dryden and Lafleur lead the possible pulls from the unopened stash. We spot light wear at some pack corners, with all guaranteed unopend by an LOA from Martin Sports Cards. All-in-all, a splendid ensemble and display with several possibilities.
