Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/24/2021
Dandy graphics of a mask-wearing goalie appeared on both Topps and O-Pee-Chee wrappers during the 1974-75 hockey season, with collectors in the United States able to buy three packs at a time in wax pack "trays" like the one offered here. Many of the key rookie cards were in packs on both sides of the Canada-U.S. border - Potvin, Salming, McDonald, Bowman and Cherry - with those of Hall of Famers Gainey and Shutt part of OPC's (396-card) set but not in Topps' (264-card) issue. The back of the cardboard "tray" here has "exciting features;" a sports safety tip on equipment, a Bazooka offer for a camera and info on how to make a "marble pitch." Some toning to the ends of the (tucked behind) cellophane are to mention, with the collectible graded EX-MT+ 6.5 by GAI.
The big holder exhibits a little crack and a one-inch edge split in the upper left corner region.
