Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/17/2015
The late LeRoy Neiman signed his 1972 "Blue Hockey" limited-edition serigraph. The unmistakable likeness of Bobby Hull is driving the net in his white No. 9 Chicago Black Hawks jersey with the puck on the blade of his stick. This striking work represents the earliest hockey serigraph ever produced by Neiman, one of only ten to showcase the sport. Neiman’s signature is in the lower right corner and the limited-edition number “61/200” is in the lower left corner. A superb signed artwork all set for worthy framing and display.
The dark blue background is paler than it originally was, as evidenced by the darker blue on the borders, which is the original color. The other colors remain nice and bold. There is a small perforation near the top middle, which won't really show when matted and framed. There are some surface and scuff marks, mainly located along the lower edge of the serigraph and on a few other spots as well.
