Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2016
Forever remembered as the first major clash between Eastern and Western hockey powerhouses, all material related to the Summit Series is highly desirable. In this lot we have a beautiful signed limited-edition 36-card display of Team Canada. As part of a 1992 20th anniversary release by “Future Trends”, the 35 members of Team Canada 1972 and HOF Russian goalie Vladislav Tretiak have each signed a limited number of their cards, which were inserted into packs at a rate of only one or two per case. Specially coated with a swirl pattern over the gold ink signatures, featured are Dryden, Dionne, Clarke, Mikita, Cournoyer, the Mahovlich and Esposito brothers, along with series hero Paul Henderson.
With 36 signed cards, each has been tipped-into the display around a centralized gold plaque listing the particulars of the piece. The signatures are in beautiful condition and exhibit no obvious flaws, with deceased members Goldsworthy and Martin included. Framed to total dimensions of roughly 31” x 37”, the display remains in gorgeous condition and awaits display on a proud wall.
