Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2025
The classic battle for world hockey supremacy, the 1972 Canada-Russia Series will be forever remembered as the ultimate clash between western and eastern powers. The victorious Canadians retained their dominance over the Soviets and the sport at large. This lot contains a complete 1992 Future Trends limited-edition signed 36-card set that features the players making up Team Canada at the 1972 Summit Series as well as Russian goalie, Vladislav Tretiak. Putting together this set of 36 autographed cards is extremely difficult. As part of a 1992 release by “Future Trends”, the 35 members of Team Canada 1972 and HOF Russian goalie Vladislav Tretiak have each signed a limited number of their cards, which were inserted into packs at a rate of only one or two per case. Specially coated with a swirl pattern over the gold ink signatures, included are tournament hero Paul Henderson, along with HOFers Dryden, Park, Ratelle, Clarke, Mikita, Perreault, Savard, Gilbert and others. The gold signatures display beautifully, with just a tiny bit of handling to the cards and no major issues to report other than some light fading to the signature of Seiling, some surface loss over the card of Tallon and some edge/corner wear throughout. A LOA from the Hockey Hall of Fame will accompany the set.
