Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/4/2014
North American hockey fans gained a new appreciation of Russian hockey during the 1972 Summit Series, as Team Canada barely squeaked out a 6-5 win in game 8 with just 34 seconds left, and mementos from the series are always desirable goodies. We have a 1972 Canada-Russia sterling silver coin measuring 2” in diameter that comes in its original case lettered on the outer lid as “Canada-USSR Hockey Canada 1972”. The coin remains in good condition but shows some tarnishing, while on the edge of the coin is engraved “Sterling 00124”. Also offered is a 22” x 24” framed and matted limited-edition 71/1972 picture of Team Canada ’72, nicely signed in red marker by series hero Paul Henderson. The blue “Wellings” coin case remains in excellent condition but has a small strip of tape on the bottom. The framed picture is also in great shape, although to note, the picture has shifted slightly but can be arranged properly if so desired. On the back is a 4” x 5” photo of Henderson signing one of these pictures, and below is an attached COA signed by a representative of Signature Pro. Also included in this lot are two Russian pennants (19” and 12”) and a French C.S.G. Grenoble pennant measuring 13 ½” and which has some faint staining.
