Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
Forever immortalized as the first netminder to regularly don facial protection, Jacques Plante remains one of the greatest goaltenders in history, with his early passing in 1986 leaving a void for autograph collectors. We have just that, with a postcard signed by the iconic keeper. At 3 ½” x 5 ½”, the postcard from 1970-71 pictures the HOFer during his time with the Maple Leafs, with Jacques adding a gorgeous signature beneath his image in blue ballpoint, ideally placed for perfect aesthetics and display, as most of these signed postcards have Plante's signature in the upper left corner. With absolutely no issues for the flawless autograph, there is also a facsimile signature situated just above the real thing. The postcard remains in beautiful condition, with just light touches to a few corners and a very slight and almost unnoticeable faint bend to the bottom right corner. A previous owner has also handwritten his initials on the reverse. Plante passed away in 1986 - almost 40 years ago! Originating from a noteworthy autograph collection, this specimen is perfect for anyone seeking the John Hancock of one of the all-time greats.
