Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
An original Montreal Expo and the franchise's first star, Rusty Staub played in three seasons with the club (1969-71), and despite his short tenure, had his number #10 retired by the Expos in 1993 due to his enduring popularity. "le Grand Orange" - as he was affectionately known to Expos supporters - would play in a total of 23 MLB seasons registering 2,716 hits and earning six All-Star selections. Originating from the personal collection of the first Expos equipment manager who was with the club for many years, Harvey Stone, we offer an original Expos cap worn by Staub during his time with the club. A KM Pro model with these worn by the Expos from 1969 to 1973 before switching to New Era models, the multi-coloured hat sports an embroidered Expos logo with "10" handwritten in black marker to the underside of the bill. The KM label is sewn to the band, with a second KM logo stamped along with the size "7 1/8". Light wear is exhibited overall including to the interior, with the bill broken beneath the material in a few spots. There is also threading in the section that has come undone.
