Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2025
Tony Esposito wasted no time making his mark in the NHL. After joining the Chicago
Blackhawks, he posted 15 shutouts in his rookie season—a record that still stands—on his way
to winning the Calder Trophy. Known for his sharp reflexes and calm demeanor under pressure,
Esposito anchored the Blackhawks’ net for 16 seasons, collecting 423 wins and three Vezina
Trophies. His consistent brilliance made him a fan favorite and a legend in Chicago. Inducted
into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1988, Esposito’s legacy as one of the greatest goaltenders of all
time remains secure.
Offered here is a 1969-70 O-Pee-Chee Tony Esposito rookie card, graded PSA 9. This pop-91
card is only bettered by two others on the PSA population report out of the 1,043 submitted to
PSA over the years, underscoring its high-grade rarity. The PSA holder is in excellent condition, with only a few faint scratches visible under close inspection. A standout rookie card from one of hockey’s most respected netminders.
