Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
Wow! Early hockey superstar Fred Taylor claims (in a side note in his hand on the back of this letter) that it "was the Governor General of Canada in 1909 who suggested the name Cyclone". The content of this wonderful old piece of ephemera makes it the best example of a Cyclone Taylor letter we have ever seen!
Amazing two FULL page single-sheet on BC Amateur Hockey letterhead handwritten letter loaded with hockey content from historic Hockey Hall of Fame star Fred "Cyclone" Taylor. In the letter, dated 1967, Cyclone details his career but the best is on the lower back where he lists his 7-PLAYER ALL STAR DREAM TEAM including: Percy Lesueur, Fred Lake, Lester Patrick, Duncan McKay, Frank Nighbor, Howie Morenz and Tom Phillips! On the front he lists his greatest moment as winning the Stanley Cup in 1909! Cyclone Taylor passed away in 1979, making his autograph a highly sought-after and important part of any Hall-of-Fame collection. The letter is signed in full on the bottom back and has expected creases where it was originally folded to slide into an envelope.
