Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/24/2024
The 1967 NHL expansion draft witnessed the league double in size, with the new six clubs each selecting twenty players from the established clubs: two goaltenders and eighteen forwards and defencemen. Thus, a total of 120 players were selected. The Original Six clubs were allowed to exclude a goaltender and eleven other players from eligibility in the draft by naming them to "protected" lists. The Los Angeles Kings selected first, and as they say, the rest is history. This lot offers a group of six pucks - one for each expansion club. Included, we have 1967-68 Art Ross/Converse patent number pucks for Minnesota (a bit of wear to each logo) and California (puck shows heavy use, with Converse logo quite worn), with these having rubberized logos on the front and reverse along with the original patent number listed, followed by 1969-77 Art Ross/Converse screened logo pucks for St Louis (marks and wear to the Blues logo, Converse logo very dark), Los Angeles (discolouration to the Kings logo), Philadelphia (marks to the Flyers logo, minor wear to the converse logo) and Pittsburgh (Penguins logo heavily worn. marks and wear to the Converse logo), with these pucks differentiated from the 1967-68 pucks by screened Converse logos opposed to rubberized, with the patent numbers removed.
