Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2025
Phil Esposito didn’t just score goals—he rewrote the record books. After starting his career with
the Chicago Blackhawks, it wasn’t until a 1967 trade to the Boston Bruins that Esposito’s full
potential exploded. Centering the famed “Big Bad Bruins” line, he became the first player in NHL
history to score 100 points in a season, ultimately shattering the single-season goal record with
76 in 1970-71—a mark that stood for over a decade. A six-time Art Ross Trophy winner and
two-time Stanley Cup champion, Esposito’s blend of size, skill, and scoring touch made him one
of hockey’s most prolific and feared scorers.
Presented here is a 1965-66 Topps Phil Esposito rookie card, graded PSA 9. Out of the 623
copies submitted to PSA over the years, only one of this pop-24 example has ever received a higher grade—making
this an elite example of one of hockey’s most significant rookie cards. The card is housed in an
essentially flawless PSA holder. A must-have for serious collectors seeking one of the finest
Esposito rookies in existence.
