Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
Forever revolutionized the game of hockey as the first goaltender to regularly wear a mask in competition—a move that forever changed the position, Jacques Plante's innovative style, including his ability to play the puck and communicate with his defensemen, set new standards for goaltending. Over his remarkable career, Plante won six Stanley Cups with the Montreal Canadiens and captured seven Vezina Trophies. Hailing from a season in which he was awarded both the Vezina Trophy and Hart Memorial Trophy, offered here is this copy of Plante's 1961-63 Parkhurst card. Pictured over the front of the card in a posed action image wearing his red Canadiens uniform on a green background that features repeating yellow Habs logos, the card retains excellent colours, sharp corners, smooth edges and a clean surface, all attributes that one would expect from a high-grade example. Showing a bit of toning to its borders and a comic on the back with a visible punchline, the card has been inspected and encapsulated by PSA, who have deemed it worthy of their high-grade mark of NM-MT 8. Housed in a PSA holder that remains in good condition but shows light imperfections over both sides, don't miss out on this one for your all-important vintage portfolio.
