Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
An all-time favorite premium with collectors and issued in three different sets over an eight-year period during the 1960s, with the second (2nd) one being released during a year that ended with the Toronto Maple Leafs knocking off the Chicago Black Hawks for their first of three (3) straight Stanley Cup championships. Offered here, we present this complete eleven (11) tumbler set of the 1961-62 York Peanut Butter glasses that feature stars from the likes of the Montreal Canadiens, Toronto Maple Leafs and Detroit Red Wings. All measuring 4 3/4" tall and slightly taller as well as narrower than the tumblers of the previous year, each is marked with a "D" on the bottom for the Dominion Glass Manufacturer. With the set featuring names such as Jean Beliveau, Henri Richard, Jean-Guy Talbot and Gilles Tremblay from the Habs to go along with Dick Duff, Tim Horton, Dave Keon and Frank Mahovlich from the Maple Leafs, the players from the Canadian teams are joined by Alex Delvecchio, Gordie Howe and Terry Sawchuk of the Detroit Red Wings as well to round out the checklist. Each featuring dual player imagery as well as a cartoon referee acting out the sign for an infraction that they may call during a game, all the glasses are found to be in overall excellent condition with just the odd slight blemish throughout and exhibit light wear along with a few minor surface scratches, but no large dings or chips.
