Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017

Shirriff coin fanatics have much to be intrigued by this time around thanks to our consignor's fabulous collection, with this grouping highlighted by 1962-63 metal representatives. Complementing a complete set of 60 are three examples which were never removed from their original cellophane packaging. Bobby Hull's #57 Art Ross green-rimmed coin is joined by those depicting 13-Bill Harris and 40-Al McNeil, while the set itself includes more than half in high grade NM-or-better condition. Most of the rest have but an edge nick or two, with considerable wear on the rims of just two (26-Backstrom, 30-Tremblay). A complete set from '60-61, accompanied by a swell full Toronto Star Weekly 20-page comic section that includes an ad for the coin promotion, features coins which average EX. Just a couple of edge chips, (commons), along with the odd cracked window and intermittent surface scratches are to report. Another dandy opportunity for hobbyists to score classic collectibles.
A cool little Shirriff/Salada-related bonus is a circa-1971 paper ad (approximately 4-1/2" x 5-1/2") revealing that five different hockey posters were available through a Salada Foods promotion and the company's Rise 'n Shine orange beverage. The bilingual ad/order from is joined by a pouch which originally held the Rise 'n Shine flavour crystals.
