Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/24/2024
Originating from team founder, coach and General Manager Wren Blair, we have a gorgeous gold medal that was won at the IIHF World Hockey Championships in 1958 by Team Canada - represented by the Whitby Dunlops. At 2 3/8”, a netminder is pictured in relief along with the date of “1958” on the obverse, encompassed by “World Championship” in both French and English. The reverse features a French monogram of the IIHF, with “1er” (first) below. There is also “Bronze” marked along the side. The medal is in stunning condition with just very light wear, with two eyelet hooks attached to the top of the medal that are not original and were added later to support a chain. A storage case is also included (not original). Originating from the man who discovered Bobby Orr, this historic gold medal is a must-have for any patriotic Team Canada supporter.
