Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2025
Jacques Plante revolutionized the game of hockey as the first goaltender to regularly wear a
mask in competition—a move that forever changed the position. Plante’s innovative style,
including his ability to play the puck and communicate with his defensemen, set new standards
for goaltending. Over his remarkable career, Plante won six Stanley Cups with the Montreal
Canadiens and captured seven Vezina Trophies. His 1962 Hart Trophy win cemented his legacy
as one of the greatest netminders of all-time.
Presented here is a rare 1955-56 Parkhurst Quaker Oats Jacques Plante rookie card, graded
PSA 7. This pop-2 card stands as the highest graded on the PSA population report out of the 63
submitted to PSA over the years, making it a crown jewel for serious collectors. It is housed in a
PSA holder with only a few small light scratches observed, maintaining an overall beautiful presentation for
this historic piece of hockey memorabilia.
