Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025
Released during the first season of Montreal's still unmatched run of five (5) straight Stanley Cup championships, Parkhurst's 1955-56 hockey card release featured a checklist of seventy-nine (79) cards from the rosters of the Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs, with "old-time greats" as well as coaches, managers and each of the two (2) teams' famed venue's also featured in the release. Offered here, we present this complete set of Parkhurst's 1955-56 release that has been graded in its entirety by PSA and currently ranks as the 8th finest PSA graded set on their registry, with a ranking of 7.273 overall! An exceptionally tough set to put together in nice condition and possessing the lowest population count out of all the hockey sets, the assembly is notable in the sense that all but one (1) of its seventy-nine (79) cards have earned a mark of PSA NM 7 or higher. Adding to its lore, when looking at PSA's POP report for the 1955-56 Parkhurst release, one will see that no cards ever inspected by the company have garnered their perfect by definition mark of GEM MT 10 and only twenty-nine (29) cards in the entire history of the company has been assessed a grade of MINT 9.
